20161101 The Guy R Cook Report SEO Tips Tuesday

November 1, 2016

20161101 The Guy R Cook Report SEO Tips Tuesday has more information about SEO optimization for mobile for your blog, landing page, website. First, is the checklist from MOZ, at this URL https://moz.com/learn/seo/mobile-optimization

After using the checklist, we test by using an online measure of performance looking first if it’s the right size, yes, size does matter in mobile, and here’s a great measurement URLhttp://mattkersley.com/responsive/ with the accurate name of Responsive Web Design Testing Tool. Use that to test your domain name, for instance the responsive shownotes (on a WordPress powered blog) I just enter the name as blog.guyrcookonlineservices.com without the https:// and it works fine.

Once the size ‘works’ then like it says in the checklist, page speed is the ‘next’ to resolve,https://moz.com/learn/seo/page-speed think of speed as more weight or importance in mobile than in desktop delivery. The link here, has several references and resources devoted to page speed. Be sure that you check out the “Related Tools” section of the post, for the links there to their selection of tools, could be an entire folder in bookmarks for Mobile SEO Tools

20161102 The Guy R Cook Report What’s on our Mind Wednesday

https://moz.com/local/search

Can your customers find you online?

Check your listings on Google, Bing, and other local search engines. And is the listing that is found showing it’s Verified?
To verify ownership, makes for better indexing by both Google and BING when they crawl the sitemaps you submit to them. The XML sitemap file sometimes is generated by a module in a CMS like Joomla! or WordPress.
The other way is to make the sitemap file online with https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

Get it done in 4 Simple Steps

  1. Enter your full website URL and some optional parameters in the form on that page.
  2. Press ‘Start’ button and wait until the site is completely crawled.
  3. You will be redirected to the generated sitemap details page, including number of pages, broken links list, XML file content and link to a sitemap file. Download the sitemap file using that link and put it into the domain root folder of your site.
  4. Go to your Google Webmaster account and add your sitemap URL.
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en select a property from the list there.
Then in the menu, select CRAWL>Sitemaps that is the URL for Google Sitemaps and managiing, submitting updating etc.
Login to https://www.bing.com/webmaster/home/dashboard/ and from the dashboard there click on “Configure my Site”
and you’ll then see ‘Sitemaps’ click that open there you will Submit Sitemap feed(s) to tell Bing about your site’s structure and make sure we are aware of pages that we may otherwise not discover. Supported formats: Sitemap , RSS 2.0, Atom 0.3, Atom 1.0 and text files.
Also, remember verification? Well, that is the same website for that to get done too, under Configure My Site is the option for Verify Ownership, follow the steps there, it shows 3 ways to verify ownership, you pick the one that’s most fitting your skill level.

Measure Your Success with the Social Selling Index (SSI)
This last tip makes social selling even more fun. LinkedIn provides a way for you to be graded on how well you use the platform to do social selling. There are four criterion that go into this rating. The social selling index (SSI) “measures how effective you are at establishing your professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights, and building relationships.” These factors impact your social selling index:
  • The amount of content you share
  • The number of connections you have with your target audience
  • How often you click on insights on your feed
  • How much you interact with others
