It is difficult to determine an exact percentage of content creators’ websites that will pass WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) tests, as it depends on a variety of factors such as the level of accessibility knowledge and expertise of the content creator, the accessibility tools and resources available to them, and the specific WCAG criteria being tested.
However, studies have shown that a significant number of websites, including those created by content creators, are not fully accessible. For example, a recent study by WebAIM analyzed the accessibility of one million home pages and found that only 1 in 10 homepages met the minimum WCAG 2.0 Level AA compliance standards.
While content creators may not have the technical expertise needed to achieve full WCAG compliance, they can still take steps to make their websites more accessible. This includes things like using simple and clear language, providing text alternatives for non-text content, ensuring proper color contrast for text and background, and designing with keyboard navigation in mind.
There are also a variety of online tools and resources available to help content creators test their sites for accessibility and make improvements where needed. These include automated testing tools, accessibility checkers, and accessibility plugins for popular content management systems like WordPress.
Overall, while achieving full WCAG compliance can be challenging, content creators should aim to make their websites as accessible as possible within the limitations of their resources and expertise. By making small changes and improvements over time, content creators can help ensure that their websites are inclusive and accessible to all users, including those with disabilities.
